Andy Warhol Exhibition in Porto Cervo
Andy Warhol Exhibition in Porto Cervo: It has been inaugurated yesterday the “Andy Warhol vip society Porto Cervo”, the largest exhibition ever dedicated to Andy Warhol in Sardinia, with 188 original works of the “Factory’s Genius“: paintings, silkscreen printing and photography. The exhibition, organized by “Marriott Costa Smeralda” and “Mazzoleni Foundation” at the Conference Centre in Porto Cervo, has been thought to walk through the whole Warhol’s artistic path, from his famous ten silkscreens on paper dedicated to Marilyn Monroe to the Campbel soup paintings (by the way the series I of 32 cans of soup went on exhibition in 1962 at the Ferus Gallery in Los Angeles, each piece were sold for $100 only, 30 years later the series was sold for $10 million), up to the Space fruit serie and his most famous self portrait.
Themes of consumerism, media and materialism are at the core of Warhol’s work. The “Vip Society” title is due to the exhibition focus on Andy Warhol’s works related to very important people such us Marylin Monroe, Sylvester Stallone, Grace Jones, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Andy Warhol himself and many others. It will be also possible to admire his Michael Jackson signed guitar and his Time Magazine’s signed cover.
Purpose of this exhibition is to to bring the Art closer to the Sea and to the Summer Holiday world to help the words “fun” and “art” to go together for once.
