Moscow MITT 2017: Sardinia is the “Best Beach Destination Europe”
The best beaches in Europe are in Sardinia. This is the verdict of the 24th edition “Moscow International Travel and Tourism Exhibition (MITT)” held in Russia during the last week (14–16 March 2017), for the happiness of the newly appointed Regional Councillor for Tourism, Handicraft and Trade, Barbara Angiolas:
This latest award confirms the excellence of our coasts. They are increasingly appreciated at the international level so much so that they have become a very popular destination also in an emerging market such as Russia. Our uncontaminated environment, which the region and all local authorities have preserved through the years, our beautiful beaches and our crystal-clear water are the main features and the strength of our tourism offer: the new regional development model is based on conservation of the environment and the enhancement of sustainable tourism.
Twenty Sardinian accredited operators joined the MITT, representing hotels, hotel chains and other hotel accommodation facilities, tourist agencies, tour operators, bus services, Meridiana airline – that operates the Olbia-Moscow flight – plus a natural mall located in the shining Stintino.
By the way the MITT is not only the Russian largest and longest running travel exhibition, but also one of the five largest tourism fairs of the whole continent, thanks to its 1,800 participating companies and over 192 destinations hosted at the Expocenter fairgrounds in Moscow.
Russian people and Sardinia:
According to the statistics broadcasted by the “Sardinia Regional Tourism Council”, there is a high-quality demand coming from Russia, of which 50% is addressed to four/five-star hotels. Traditionally are beaches, plus golfing and sailing facilities, to attract the highest demand. A little over 19,000 tourists visited Sardinia from Russia in the first 10 months of 2016 (+2% compared with the same period of the year before).
Plus a total of 576 Russian are currently residing in Sardinia, the half of them close to the Emerald Coast, where many more also bought tens of luxury villas famous for their expensive parties and for the amazing yachts berthed in the local marinas. Lots of Russian billionairs in fact, in the last years, decided to buy a property in Sardinia to enjoy its beautiful nature, food and beaches.
